Flyleaf - Flyleaf

By: Brenna

Though Flyleaf is a band, I personally call them "Saviors". They show you that it's not the end, you can make it through. With Lacey Mosley vocals which range from breathy and beautiful to scathing and aggressive, takes you down a traumatic path that she and her band had once faced. And Lacey is the perfect songwriter to tell about it, since she has experienced things from drugs, to getting thrown out of her home, to planning her own suicide.

Flyleaf's emotionally revealing lyrics tell about abuse, neglect, addiction, depression, and dysfunction, things that would be almost too emotional to deal with. But by confronting past traumas, Flyleaf prove that it is possible to get through the worst situations, and that hope shines brighter than despair.

Their self-titled debut album hit the peak position at #3 on the "Top Heatseekers" charts, while the 4th single "All Around Me" topped the "Christian Rock" charts at #1.

Recommendations:
"Fully Alive" - Has got to be my favorite song on the whole album. The song is about a girl who went through a lot of pain and came out more beautiful because of it.

"I'm So Sick" - Which was their 1st. single, is a loud and in-your-face song about how the world can sometimes be a sick and messed up place and how that influences us and tells us how we should live or who we should be.

"So I Thought" - Is one of their softer songs, that explains that if you've messed up and made mistakes, it doesn't mean that you have to keep screwing up, or that your life is ruined and that you're worthless. It means that you can start over, you just have to make that decision yourself.
