Justin Timberlake - Futuresex/Lovesounds

By: Brandon C.
Once having No Strings Attached, to being Justified, and now on to the future. Timberlake has definitely proven why he holds the crown of the "Prince of Pop." Coming into the industry as a young man with four other friends singing songs about torn up hearts and looking for new love in the group *Nsync. Moving on to writing songs about ex-girlfriends crying him a river, to now single handedly bringing Sexy Back.
Timberlake has shown he has matured between his freshman and sophomore album. JT, in a way though, always has to be maturing and changing his sound, and always being one step ahead of the rest Being in the industry for so long, and having come out with so many top hits, the fans almost expect him to come out with the next big sound in music. However, with FutureSex LoveSounds being almost entirely produced by Timberland, you know it was sure to bring about hits. With songs ranging in melody of an almost "disco" sound to what some people call "pseudo-crunk," Timberlake has shown us his many sides and tastes in his own music. JT has already had two top songs emerge from the album. "Sexy Back" and My Love"; both instant hits with catchy chours' and great lyrics. "Damn Girl" was the only song on the whole album I can say that I wasn't too crazy about.
In all, I give the album two thumbs up. However, I don't know what is left for Timberlake to try. It is going to be a surprise to see what direction he goes in next.
Recommendations:
"Lovestoned" - The albums "disco-like" song. But don't turn your nose down at the sound of disco. The song will have you dancing in no time, with an irresistible melody and a great beat.
"Chop Me Up" - JT's more urban and "pseudo-crunk" song, with guest vocals from 3 6 Mafia and Timberland himself. The beat is sure to please anyone, and it will have you singing the chorus by the end of the song.
"What Goes Around … Comes Around" - The next single on the rise. An almost updated version of "Cry Me A River", but with less of harsh tone. A must have to any music collection.
