KanYe West - Graduation

By: S6 Staff - Sebastian.

Since day one when Kanye released College Dropout, I've been a fan. Kanye put meaning behind his music instead of just putting words to a beat. But with the release of his highly anticipated album Graduation, he managed to outdo himself once again. Unlike 50 Cent's Curtis, Graduation was worth all the hype. Kanye West is truely taking hip-hop to a completely new level. He adds a new spin on his music by mixing hip-hop with pop and creating a completely enw and original sound. Something we haven't heard from anyone else out there. Kanye went all out and tryed all sorts of new sounds with Graduation. Each song is unique and has its own umph to it.What I admire about Kanye is that he doesn't play it safe with his music and recreates his old albums. He evolves as a musician and trys new things that we haven't heard from other rappers. Already Graduation has sold over a million copies. It debuted at number 1 on the United World Chart, which is a pretty big accomplishment. And don't just take my word for it, everyone from Rolling Stone to the LA Times are giving Graduation a very high rating, which we all know is rare now a days. Kanye has been going uphill ever since he started and he's showing no sign of slowing down. Not only is this one of my favorite albums of 2007, it also landed a spot as one of my favorite albums of all time.

Recommendations:
"I Wonder" - This ahs to be the must creative and unique songs on this album. Kanye and myself both agree that this one of our favorite tracks on the album, which is hard to say since the whole album is really good. Amazing song.

"Flashing Lights" - I love this song a lot. The beat, the lyrics, the vocals. I love it all. A really good song.

"Everything I Am" - A rather simple song, but does a good job at getting the message across. This song is really layed back. The music is mellow and low key. Kanye is very real on this track, and just tells it how it is.

"Big Brother" - We all have someone we look up to. Someone who as inspired us to become who we are today and who inspired us to aim high for our future. "Big Brother" is a song Kanye wrote about his idol, Jay-Z. And the fact that he chose to close the album with this song adds that much more meaning behind it. Kanye does it once again.
