Kelly Clarkson - My December

By: S6 Journalist - Sebastian.
To say the least, Kelly Clarkson has come a long way since her debut on the first season of American Idol. Kelly has done when few Idols ever acomplish, make a name for themselves. Her debut album, Thankful, reached number 1 on the billboard charts, though many people believed it was only because of the Idol craze. To prove them wrong, Kelly came back stronger than before in 2004 with Breakaway. Clarkson brought a new, more rock-influenced sound with Breakaway. She produced smash hits like "Breakaway" and "Since U Been Gone" as well has "Behind These Hazel Eyes," "Because of You" and "Walk Away." Her music was rewarded with Clarkson's first Grammys, "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance" and "Best Pop Vocal Album." Not only did she have much comercial sucsess, but she also sold out shows throughout the world while touring.
In 2006, while on tour in Europe, Kelly began writing her third album, My December. But, finally, in late-April 2007, Kelly Clarkson released her highly anticipated single, "Never Again." On May 1st, the video was premiered on MTV. The song peaked at #8 on the US Hot 100 and #5 on the US Pop chart. Later, Clarkson's management cancelled her My December Tour due to the lack of ticket sales. They stated that ticket sales have not been what they anticipated. Kelly announced that her second single would be "Sober." The sticker that will be on the front of the physical CD also suggests that future singles may include "One Minute" and "How I Feel."
Recommendations:
"Sober" - This song carries a more serious and rather sad compared to the rest os the album. This song is mellow, yet powerful. One of my favorites off the album with lots of meaning behind it. Kelly wrote the whole song herself. It was inspired by Calamity McEntire telling her to "pick her weeds and keep the flowers."
"Don't Waste Your Time" - This song is, in a way, catch and serious at the same time. It was a good message. The song is about telling someone that you're better off being friends.
"How I Feel" - Personally, I really like this song because she doesn't over-do it, but the song is catchy and easy to like. A great song off the album.
