Sugarcult - Lights Out

Los Angeles band Sugarcult has comea long way since their first two releases, "Start Static" and "Palm Trees and Power Lines." Their third album, "Lights Out," can only be discribed as the turning point in their musical careers. Start Static (2001) was mostly Sugarcult making catchy melody to gain fans for their musical debut. Palm Trees and Power Lines (2004) was their coming of age. Lights Out (2006), though, exposes the band's evolved sound and shows a more inspired version of their music.
Their new record can only be described as the band reaching their prime. Sugarcult is one of those great bands that keeps moving forward with their music, unlike bands that continuously make records that sounds the same as their last. They have created a truely great album. They have a great varity of songs: Catchy, hard rock songs, classic pop and even an almost haunting ballad. Out of an original 25 songs, Sugarcult created an 11 song masterpiece about love, hate & life's imperfection. My personal favorite song off Lights Out would have to be their strong ballad, "The Investigation."
Recommendations:
"Do It Alone" - Although the song is practicly about loveless sex and one night stands, the catchy melody makes it a great track to listen to.
"Riot" - Those of you who like harder rock, this is a good track to get.
"The Investigation" - This is one of their slower songs, for those of you who like meaningful lyrics about loving someone who doesn't seem to feel the same way about you.
