Beck
[official website] - [official myspace]
By: S6 Staff - Sebastian.
When I think of alternative-electronica, Beck is the first name that comes to mind. Beck is surely one my my favorite electronica artists ever. Beck's first major release Mellow Gold (1994), which peaked at #13 in the US. Since then Beck has gone nowhere but up. I first listened to Beck when he was about to release his 8th major album, Guero. I listened to a few of his songs, and I've been hooked ever since. Beck is an incredible artist, and a great musical inspiration. What's probably one of the msot impressive things about Beck is his creativity. For example, Beck's 2006 release The Information came with a very unique packaging. It was a black canvas, and the album came with stickers so you could use them to design the album yourself. Besides that, Beck always adds a creative touch to everything from his music, to his videos. With that said, it's easy to say that Beck was definately born for this.
Recommendations:
"Timebomb" - The latest Beck song, and my favorite so far. I love the beat, the song is very catchy. A must-download.
"E-Pro" - This is the song that introduced me to Beck. It continues to be one of my favorites. This also holds title of my favorite Beck music video. A great song.
"Hell Yes" - Everytime I hear this song, I think of little dacing robots [because of the music video]. This is one of the songs that show Beck at his best.
