Bowling For Soup

When I think of rock bands who don't take themselves too seriously, I automatically think of Bowling for Soup. Now THERE's a fun group. First getting their start in 1994, the band did countless hours of touring and promoting, which soon lead to the state success of their first EP and full-length cd. They were soon signed to Jive Records and quickly began working on 2000 debut, "Let's Do It For Johnny!" The band didn't really gain a mainstream hit until their single "1985" got pickd up and became an MTV favorite. That led to tons of radio-airplay and soon, Bowling for Soup was a powerpop rock band everyone knew. They haven't had any other singles quite as big as "1985," but I'll be the first to tell you they have other songs and other albums that are well worth your listening.
Recommendations:
"Girl All the Bad Guys Want" - A fun track with lyrics that will literally make you "lol." I hate online lingo but not this song which was actually featured on one of the "Now That's What I Call Music" cds. I really do love this song and you'll get a good taste of what the band is like by listening to it.
"Last Call Casualty" - One of my favorite songs off their "A Hangover You Don't Deserve" album. It's got quite the catchy chorus and definitely an anthem for drunk dialers.
"Almost" - Another one of their most popular songs, "Amost" is a simple message with enough "almost" stories in the lyrics to keep you laughing the whole way. At the end though, the song is pretty endearing and I really think you'll end up liking it.
