Foo Fighters

Circa World War II, the term "foo fighter" was used to refer to a mysterious aerial phenomena. Now a days, the term is used to refer to one of the greatest rock bands of the present time. Foo Fighters were formed in 1995 by frontman Dave Grohl, who was the drummer for the band Nirvana. Dave went off and formed Foo Fighters following the death of Kurt Cobain. One thing I hate about artists that have been around for a long time, is that their music usually spirals downwards after some time. That's never been the case for these guys. That's one of this band's greatest attributes, the mere fact that album after album they come back with ever-evolving material. Foo Fighters have an amazing track record when it comes to their originality. Unlike most bands, Foo Fighters are always open to evolve instead of just sticking with what they're familiar with. They have never disappointed with their ability to write incredible hard rock songs. But one thing that Foo Fighters fans have learned is that the band not only knows how to create good hard rock songs, but how they can also successfully switch playing styles and capture their audience with their acoustics. A perfect example of this is their 2005 release, In Your Honor, which is their only double album thus far. The first disk featured the traditional rock songs everyone expected from them. However, the second disk was their more mellow side and focused primarily on their acoustic side. A trick the band pulled off better than most. The album sold incredibly well on the international level, finding its way into the top 40 in every country (mostly in the top 5). Now with their 6th album about to release (Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace), Foo Fighters have no intentions of slowing down.

Recommendations:
"Everlong" - This is definitely a classic. A fan favorite, and with good reason. Essentially, it is an up-beat love song that displays Foo Fighters at their best.

"Learning to Fly" - There's good meaning behind this song. This is one of the songs that I really like because of the lyrics. This song is a bit lighter compared to a lot of their hard rock songs, but still earned itself a spot as one of the band's best.

"The Deepest Blues Are Black" - This is a non-single from In Your Honor. It's one of my favorites from the album, though I also really like "Best of You." I know it doesn't really mean anything to say that I really like this song [because I say that for all of them] but I really don't know what else to say. It's simply a great song.

"Let It Die" - This is one of their newest songs off of their new album. Hands down, one of my favorites by Foo Fighters so far. It's a great song. If you don't plan on buying the new album, atleast download this song. You won't regret it.
