Hilary Duff
By: Hailey
Maybe you know her as the girl who played Lizzie McGuire on the Disney show, or maybe you know her from "Cheaper by the Dozen" or even "Cinderella Story." Hilary Duff's most recent release is her album "Dignity," her fourth album. This album explores more of a techno rock beat feel, in my opinion, than her other albums. Half of the album, she was in a relationship, and the other half, she wasn't. So the love tracks are mixed. "Stranger" is like a description of a lot of Hollywood relationships: perfect in public, awful alone. "Never Stop" is a cute song about love on a happier note. And then there's "With Love," my personal favorite. Hilary Duff has been portrayed as a bubblegum-pop artist, which is kind of how her first album turned out. I think on her third and fourth albums she's really matured, mainly because she's had more control over what was on her album. She even co-wrote all the songs. Don't write her off just because she was on the Disney Channel, give her newer music a listen and then decide.
Recommendations:
"Stranger"-Like I said, it is about a relationship where the guy is making everything seem perfect, treating her wonderful, but only in public. When they are alone, as Hilary says, "the way you look at me it's just not right" things aren't so hot.
"So Yesterday"-This is the song that got her out there. I really like it because it's a good breakup song, not angry, but happy and moving on.
"Wake Up"-From her third album, 'Most Wanted,' this track has a fabulous new sound and it is very upbeat, and easy to dance to! Also check out: Come Clean, Supergirl, Play With Fire, and Fly.
