Muse
[official website] - [official myspace]
By: S6 Staff - lz.
With a sound that's both rock and electronic, Muse is a band that is unlike many you will hear. Their songs are edgy, hard-rocking, and at times captivating. The band has changed their name from Gothic Plague to Fixed Penalty to Rocket Baby Dolls. They finally settled on "Muse" and released their debut album, "Showbiz" in 1999. Through the years, their sound has matured into a rock and techo vibe that's full of energy.
Recommendations:
"Supermassive Blackhole" - Love the guitar intro.
LOVE. The song itself is really very cool and I personally listen to it just about everytime I turn on my iPod.
"Stockholm Syndrome" - This song has a strong intro and a great setup for the chorus. Oh, but wait 'til you hit the chorus, it's addictive and the vocals are captivating. You feel as if this song should be playing wile you're flying in a spaceship towards some black hole in the middle of space. It may sound crazy, but you'll just have to listen to the song to understand.
"Hysteria" - Probably one of Muse's most mainstream hits. The song has been used in commercials, movie action sequences, background music, you name it. The guitar is the signature part of the song, but overall, it's a pretty great song.
"Starlight" - This song is slightly more mellow than Muse's other tracks, but it still has the same style and lyrical focus they've become known for. The lead singer shows his vocal capabilities more profoundly in this song. The phrase "black holes and revelations" (seen throughout their site a few times) was born in this song.
