Nelly Furtado is easily one of the biggest pop stars now. Furtado first popped onto the music in 2002 with her album, "Whoa, Nelly!" The album was a great success and landed her tons of attention and fans. Her single, "I'm Like a Bird," even received a Grammy nomination for Song of the Year. Her sophmore album, "Folflore," was not as successful as her previous album, but fast forward to 2006. "Loose," Furtado's third and newest album is easily her most successful. With an all new sound and a sexy new look, Nelly has comeback full power. The album has branched off hit after hit in what is already being hailed as one of the best pop albums of 2006. While her new record turns away from Nelly's natural sound and original fanbase, it's undeniable that it has proved to be quite a success.
Recommendations:
"Say It Right" - Quite possibly the most addictive beat off this album. The lyrics are simplistic and Nelly really flows along with the beat perfectly. The video for this song is simple, but still pretty cool. I think it has something to do with the fact that Nelly is just so gorgeous to look at and the fact that she has so many closeups.
"Promiscuous" - So even though the name of the song means "casual sexual behavior," it makes for a great pop song! This song was on so many "Top Songs of '06" lists that's it's hard to keep count of them all. Rolling Stone named it one of the years most popluar pop songs. It's a cool song that begs to be listened to in the clubs. What more proof do you need?
"I'm Like A Bird" - This song is both uplifting and lyrically driven. Nelly's singing is beautiful and numble. While very different from her the tracks off her newest album, this song is the one that made Nelly Furtado a name to remember. This is a must-have if you want to hear what Furtado was like before her 2006 makeover.
