Talking Heads

With David Byrne's quirky ideas and his distinctive voice, teaming up with Chris Frantz, Tina Weymouth and Jerry Harrison created an explosion of new sound. At the start of the 80s, the Talking Heads created a new sound of stripped rock with extra emphasis on keyboards and catchy beats. The sound helped influence a whole new genre called new wave. With their hit album in '83, "Speaking in Tongue", the world sang along with the hit "Burning down the House." This song became one of the biggest hits of the decade. However; the Talking Heads created so many great songs in their 12 year span that the rest of their songs were under the radar of their major hit. Unfortunately, David Byrne left the Talking Heads to pursue a solo career and the Heads have not been the same since. However, the whole group reunited again in 2002 for their introduction into the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame where they performed four songs for the very last time.

Recommendations:
"Once in a Lifetime" – This song has such a catchy chorus that I even find myself singing it from time to time. This song is about "letting the days go by" and seeing if your life is "the same as it ever was."

"Burning Down the House" – In the 80s, this song was a huge hit. The Talking Heads always make such catchy choruses that you can sing too and great beats to jam out to; this song is no exception.

"Life During Wartime" – "This ain't no party, this ain't no disco!" This song is definitely one you can dance to, but in the song they talk about how this isn't the time to dance. Coincidence? Or is it the genius minds of the Talking Heads? You decide.

"Wild Wild Life" – Who knew that a song that constantly repeats on how they are "getting a wild, wild life" could be so good? You'll find yourself dancing around your room saying the same thing.
