Since 1997, the edgy punk group from Indiana known as The Ataris has been making albums with most of their songs about love and heartbreak. However; every song is brilliantly put together and are all quite unique. They have recorded seven albums and EPs so far with their newest being 'Welcome to the Night.' Their previous album, 'So Long, Astoria', includes a wide range of songs. The Ataris included in their album a faster version of the 80s hit by Don Henley's song 'The Boys of Summer.' Their new version of the song became a Top 40 hit in 2003, and also continued its success by reaching as high as #20 on Billboards Hot 100. The group was once with Columbia records; however, they left and created their own label, Isola Recordings, to produce their newest album. The group's newest single from their album is 'Not Capable of Love' which, like the album, has a more mature sound to it; however, the group still has their flare and distinctiveness that they always had and will continue to have.

Recommendations:
"Takeoffs and Landings" – This is my favorite song by them. The song is about missing someone you love and combines it with the feeling of being on an airplane. That's pretty ingenious I think.

"So Long, Astoria" –This song is actually slightly based off of the movie "The Goonies" which takes place in Astoria, Oregon. Like the movie, this song is about living your life to the fullest and not making regrets.

"Radio #2" – This was the song that got me hooked on them. I heard this in NHL '04 for PS2, and the lyrics were so catchy. It's a cute song, yet you can still jam out to it.

"Your Boyfriend Sucks" – Okay, the title does actually go with the song this time. But the thing that makes the song so unique is that a famous line from the movie, 'A Bronx Tale', is incorporated into the song. And it just so happens that that movie is one of my favorites (check the movie out too if you haven't seen it.)
