For Fans of: The Audition, Saves The Day, Boys Like Girls, Justin Timberlake.
Let’s face it; everyone loves to dance to their favorite music. You’d all be lying if you said that you haven’t, at least once, locked yourself in your room, stood in front of your mirror, and practiced your signature dance move, whether it be the robot or god forbid “the sprinkler.”
Do you want to take your dance moves to the next level? Well, then The Higher is going to be the band to help you do it.
Hailing from Las Vegas , Nevada and originally known as September Star, The Higher began as a simple high school band that turned into much more. The band was lucky enough to sign a record deal with Fiddler Records around 2003 and record their first short EP called Star is Dead, which was comprised of a few basic songs. The Higher quickly rushed into the music scene, scoring gigs alongside popular bands such as Silverstein, Yellowcard, Something Corporate, and Emery. After recording their first full length album, Histrionics, the band said goodbye to their guitarist and hello to their new label, Epitaph Records. In late 2006 The Higher recorded their digital-only EP called Pace Yourself and, recently recorded the very catchy and very popular full length album On Fire.
Often described as “Saves the Day meets Justin Timberlake,” The Higher’s sound is a mix of emo, pop, dance, and R&B (definitely a little something for everyone!). With lead singer Seth Trotter’s unique voice it is almost impossible to keep your feet from tapping along and their super catchy songs, such as “Insurance?” and “Histrionics,” will stay stuck in your head for days.
If you would like to learn more about The Higher and hear what their music is really all about check out their official website (http://www.thehigher.com) or visit their myspace (http://www.myspace.com/thehigher). If you really like what you hear then head over to iTunes and download their new CD On Fire. Maybe it will even help you work on those dance moves some more. Don’t worry; your secret is safe with me.
Recommendations:
Insurance?: This song is beyond catchy and its a great way to lead into the rest of The Higher's CD, On Fire. Plus, its definitely dance-able and great for party mixes.
Histrionics: This song has a great rhythm going. The lyrics are extremely catchy as well, proclaiming "one check, one love."
Dare: This song is the new single for The Higher. A slower tune, Dare really grabs your attention and really shows off lead singer Seth Trotter's amazing voice.

From Las Vegas, Nevada, a literal hotbed for new and arising bands, comes The Higher, the new sound of emo, pop and R&B collaborating in a dance party explosion. The new album, On Fire, which is due to release March 6th, overflows with hooks and harmonies of tooth-numbing greatness, matched with dark tales of young adulthood gone wrong. Signed by Epitaph founder Brett Gurewitz on the strength of their acclaimed 2005 full-length Histrionics and an incendiary live performance at the Roxy in L.A. in early 2006. With a tour history that includes stints with fellow Las Vegans Panic! At the Disco, The Higher are ready to make the daredevil leap through the flaming hoop of pop stardom. With a full length EP, CD, and another on the way, The Higher is steadily becoming one of the most creative bands to hit the music industry since, The Roots and Gym Class Heroes.
