History
So ZA!D actually has some history behind it. It was first started by me, (Louie Z.) on June 16th, 2006. I've
been the owner of ZA!D since the very beginning. I just don't trust anyone else so partners were out of the
question. Anyways, I orignally started the site because I had been learning html for about a year and wanted to
see if anyone would like the things I had to offer. I started out as "ZapAttack! Divs" on MySpace.com. Stupidest name on earth,
I know. I don't really know what I was on when I came up with it. Maybe it was some kind of drug that induces bad
decisions....
Well, obviously, because of the name, I was planning on making divs. I also some offered html help but as I grew,
I had to leave that behind. It just way out of hand. I've always really liked divs. To me
they were so much cooler than just normal layouts and almost
no one at the time offered them. So I
made the site with the intent to make just divs. Now, I also really sucked at the time. I had no image editing
programs, no image creating knowledge, and no creativity. All I really knew was coding, and so I helped people
with that. But my site was a trainwreck. People let me know it too. I had
div sites telling me that I sucked and that I should "get better or just delete my site." That was an actual quote.
People are so nice huh? Well, since I'm still here, you can see that I didn't delete my site.
Instead, I did a complete site makeover. I shortened the name to "za!divs" which would later become present day "ZA!D." I made a new
default picture, a new div, new...everything. Over the span of a couple months, I strived to have more divs than
any other site out there. I definitely
had more, but none of them were really that good. So I would every once and a while "revamp" my entire site. I'd
move every div I had to a blog and then start over. I got better with each "revamp" and was finally starting to
think that I was a quality site. I tried very hard to make things no one had ever seen and things that were also
creative. I was gaining tons of friends daily due to the number of kids that were online during the summer.
I was also gaining momentum and really growing. It was really hard to manage though.
So I then applied to be hosted at
New Revolutions.com
because I felt a website would be much easier to manage. I got accepted (much to my surprise) and quickly started building
my newly acquired website. I was really happy with it as a whole and felt like I was getting better at creating
good material. I finally had my website all set up and running. Things were looking good untl on October 29th, my MySpace site got deleted.
I had about 16,500 friends when I was deleted. I was actually at
Busch Gardens that
day and was having a great time. I had a bad feeling the entire day though, so when I got home to find I was deleted, it was almost expected.
Well, I lost all my codes, all my divs, and more importantly, all my users.
My website just wasn't old enough for people to remember it without having my MySpace to direct them.
I had made a backup MySpace a while back, but that was deleted too. What luck huh?
So people had nowhere to go once my site was gone. I kinda just...disappeared. So within that same hour, I started up
the new ZA!D @
MySpace.com/zadivs.
I got support from all the friends I'd made over those couple months. Even some support
from people who I'd never talked to, but who still liked my site. Over the next few days, I regained some friends and was back on my
feet ready to start where I was interrupted. Then on October 31st, my
website got deleted.
I still don't know every detail on why my sub-domain was deleted, but apparently someone had hacked into New Revolutions
and deleted me, along with several other sites. Why? I don't really know. Almost every single New Revolutions hosted site was gone. It was even
worse than losing my MySpace because this time, I lost
everything. Divs, layouts, graphics, codes. Everything.
I seriously just wanted to quit. It was all too much at once. My entire site went down the drain in a matter of just two days!
But, I stuck with my site because it's what I love doing. I was offered my subdomain back and I accepted.
I quickly got my divs back up, and proceeded to build up every other part of my site I lost. I was even more determined
this time to make my site 10x better. I also started offering much more than just divs and layouts. I started to
build myself a good reputation and really felt like this time around would be the best.
After about a year of running ZA!D, (with a lot of that time being on a subdomain) I decided it was time to move on. I was
given the choice to renew my subdomain for another year, or to leave the website alltogether. I decided to leave behind the
subdomain and buy myself a domain. Rewindd.com was the name I chose and I really think it suits me. When the new domain was
all set up and ready to go, I made everyone a promise. A promise to create a bigger, better, and overall evolved site. ZA!D
may no longer be the name I go by, but it's still very much alive in Rewindd. A big thank you to my pervious host, Charlie, and
to all my supporters throughout all of this. Your support means the world.
There are big things in store for Rewindd.com. Thanks for being apart of it.
